The Joinery Edit started as a passion project; there was no firm agenda or elaborate master plan apart from sharing visually stimulating content with juicy factual captions. The side hustle has gone even deeper, becoming an online destination for creatives seeking joinery-specific answers.
Eighteen years ago, after attaining a bachelor of design degree in interior design, I moved to London with my best friend. I arrived with a bang, brimming with creative ‘genius’, but seriously needing tangible industry knowledge.
I spent the first years of my career stuck in a perpetual fear that someone was about to expose my lack of skills. The self-doubt was crippling, not to mention the sleepless nights.
I started shadowing those more senior, spoke to every trade, listened intently on site, and, you guessed it, harassed joiners and cabinet makers. Slowly, my knowledge base grew, and so did my confidence.
After honing my skills in London and Sydney, I've now created the online community I've always wanted. One that cuts through the overwhelm and celebrates the power of great joinery.
